We have developed these fiber optic calculators to help the fiber optic community understand, plan, and troubleshoot their networks. There are different versions and while similar, they have varying capabilities and focus. Choose whichever one fits your requirements best.
Open Basic Calculator
The basic calculator provides overall fiber loss at wavelength and insertion loss for connectors, splices, and PON splitters, and allows for a variable safety margin.
Open Advanced Calculator
The Advanced calculator provides overall fiber loss at wavelength and insertion loss for connectors, splices, and PON splitters. It also has Power Parameters with transmit power and receiver sensitivity. It also allows for a variable safety margin.
Open xPON Calculator
The xPON calculator is targeted for xPON from OLT to ONT. It is optimized around 1490nm and provides loss values for fiber, connectors, splices, and splitters (single and cascaded). It also has Power Parameters with transmit power output, power budget, system margin, and a pass / fail status.
